Diplomate Exam: Guidelines for Examinees

All examinees are advised to take heed of the following guidelines.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION


EXAMINATION DATE AND VENUE

  • October 10: WRITTEN EXAM: 8AM Bonaventure, Ortigas Avenue
  • October 11: VIVA VOCE (Oral Exam): 8AM Bonaventure, Ortigas Avenue
  • October 12: PRACTICAL EXAM (Provincial Examinees): POC
  • October 13: PRACTICAL EXAM (Manila-based Examinees): POC


EXAMINATION DETAILS AND MECHANICS
WRITTEN EXAM:

  • Multiple Choice Questions, 300 items
  • Total exam duration: 4 hours

ORAL EXAM:

  • Three panels, approximately 30 minutes each
  • Panel 1 - Trauma, Panel 2 - Adult, Panel 3 - Other Subspecialties
  • 2-3 cases per panel with 2-3 examiners
  • Total exam duration per examinee: 1.5 - 2 hours

PRACTICAL EXAM

  • Assignment of cases by lottery on the day of the exam.
  • The top 10 examinees (based on result of Parts 1 and 2), may be exempted from taking the practical exam.


ADVISORIES
WRITTEN EXAM

  • Be at the examination venue at Bonaventure (Westmont Pharmaceuticals) at 7:30am.
  • You will be asked to turn off your mobile phones during the entire duration of the examination. Alternatively, you may leave them at a safe location outside of the exam venue.

ORAL EXAM

  • CELL PHONES are NOT allowed at the exam venue. You will be asked to surrender your mobile phones to the Secretariat for the whole duration of the exam. Alternatively, you may leave them at a safe location outside of the exam venue. Please take appropriate action (i.e., plan ahead on notifying anticipated callers for that day).
  • You will be identified and assigned Examinee Numbers by a proctor prior to the examination.
  • DO NOT identify yourself or your institution to the panel of examiners during the examination. Your identity and exam result will be decoded at the end of the examination period.
  • Results are to be released after the last examinees have finished.
  • Only successful examinees (passed 2 or 3 panels) of the oral exam are qualified to take the Practicals.

PRACTICAL EXAM

  • Assignment of cases by lottery on the day of the exam.
  • Bring your own scrub suits.
